Mining & mine water
Salt control in bioleaching
Keep the metals, lose the salt.
The problem
In bioleaching, salt builds up in the recirculating solution and has to be controlled without losing copper, or the iron the bacteria reuse.
Benefits
- Keeps salinity where the process needs it
- Retains valuable copper and reusable iron
- Reduces bleed and make-up volumes
Application
Treats a bleed of the raffinate, removing sodium chloride and returning the solution, with its iron, to the heap. Suited to heap and tank bioleaching of low and medium-grade copper ores such as chalcopyrite.
