Cooling water for data centres

Computing without the drinking water.

The problem

Data centre cooling towers are often restricted to soft fresh water and low cycles of concentration by water-quality limits, so they draw heavily on mains supply and blow down large volumes.

Benefits

  • Harder aquifer, well and borehole sources become usable
  • Substantially higher cycles of concentration and less blowdown
  • Blowdown can be treated and recirculated
  • Lower antiscalant use

Application

Conditions make-up water and treats blowdown for recirculation. Silica pre-treatment is advised at some sites.
